Queenslander's love their pools, swimming pool can provide endless fun for the entire family and guests but  it also comes with a responsibility . With our sub-tropical climate, it's no wonder that approximately 300,000 premises  in Queensland have a swimming pool. Having a pool comes with  the responsibility in assuring it is safe and barrier complaint . Unfortunately non-compliant swimming pool barriers have tragically resulted in backyard pools being the leading cause of death of children aged 1 to 5 years old ,this could be easily prevented by following the correct precautions on pool safety barriers. Every year toddlers in Australia lose their lives due to poorly maintained pool safety barriers. It is a pool owner's responsibility to organize a pool inspection to ensure the swimming pool remains a safe place and their pool barrier is secure and compliant with the standards set by the Government.

There has been a lot of confusion regarding these new regulations,  including incorrect information in the media and on websites.  Legislation introduced in 2010 stipulates that regulated pools on  properties where there is a house, townhouse, unit, hotel, motel,  backpacker hostel or caravan park, must comply with the pool safety  standard by 30 November 2015, or earlier if the property is sold or  leased. What many home owners don't realize is that new pool safety laws  have been introduced in Queensland over the past five years, replacing  11 different pool safety standards that existed before 2009 with one  safety standard.  With tough new pool safety laws being implemented in  Queensland, it's important to ensure your pool is safe.
